Election for the Chair of the EORTC QLG Early Career Investigator group

The EORTC Quality of Life Group (QLG) Executive Committee is pleased to announce that the election for the Chair of the QLG Early Career Investigator (ECI) group is now open. In order to apply you must be a QLG Active member and part of the QLG ECI group.

Candidates must submit the below to Amy Thomas at chair.eortcqlg@soton.ac.uk:

  1. One page CV
  2. One page letter of motivation
  3. Names of two QLG Active members that support your candidacy (cannot be a current QLG Executive Committee member)

About the role

Scope of duties:

  • Develop the ECI agenda for the QLG and act as a point of contact between the group’s ECIs and the Executive Committee;
  • Coordinate ECI activities in the QLG such as the mentorship programme, joint projects and papers, webinars or other educational activities;
  • Organise and chair the ECI virtual meetings;
  • Become a non-voting member of the QLG Executive Committee;
  • Attend virtual monthly meetings of the QLG Executive Committee;
  • Attend the in-person Executive Committee meetings during the biannual QLG meetings;
  • Join the ECI grant review committee (alongside the New Development Officer and Treasurer). As part of the ECI grant committee, you will be tasked with reviewing the ECI meeting and visiting grants.

Terms of Position and Eligibility:

The EORTC Quality of Life Early Career Investigator Group Chair term lasts 3 years with a handover period of 6 months to support the incoming Chair. At the end of the term, the ECI chair cannot run for a second term.
Eligible candidates must be registered as QLG Active members and be part of the ECI group. Only members of the QLG ECI group can run for the position and vote in the election.
The new ECI Chair will automatically become a non-voting member of the QLG Executive Committee and will be expected to join the virtual monthly Executive Committee meetings as well as the in-person Executive Committee meetings at the biannual QLG meetings.
