Project summary

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common form of kidney cancer, a rather rare but usually fatal disease, since early stages are often asymptomatic and the diagnosis is often made at an advanced stage. Since the EORTC is conducting clinical trials involving RCC patients and there is no specific EORTC measure yet available to assess the quality of life of these patients, this project aims to conduct Phase I and II of the EORTC Module Development to fill this gap.

Achievements

A systematic literature review has been performed. Healthcare professionals and patients have been interviewed in Austria, UK and Norway. Recruitment is still open in India and Spain.

Some preliminary work for conducting the systematic literature review has been completed and the literature search is about to start. The institution of the PI has already received ethical approval for patient interviews. In other participating centres, the application processes are currently underway.

Future plans

Phase II: patient recruitment and preparation of data analysis
