Project summary

This project aims:

1 To identify domains and issues of importance to patients diagnosed with KC

  1. To determine the difference in prioritisation between younger and older patients with KC in QoL issues of concern
  2. To determine the need for additional item sets for patients with high risk and advanced KC
  3. To determine stakeholders priorities for future core outcome/item sets involving QoL

Achievements

Systematic review, patient and healthcare professional survey on KC QoL issues relevant to recent therapeutic interventions has been completed. Data analysis led to construction of a provisional KC module, pending PMDC approval.

Current status: Phase 1–2

Future plans

After approval of the Phase 1–2 report, we would apply for EORTC QLG funding for phase 3 of the KC module construction as soon as possible.

For patients

In this study we first performed literature review of HRQoL issues for patients with KC. We then surveyed health care professionals and patients from different cultural backgrounds/ countries to determine their HRQoL concerns, and if patients with more advanced disease have additional concerns. Following analysis of the survey outcomes we constricted a provisional KC HRQoL tool which, if approved by EORTC QLG, will be presented to a larger group of patients across the globe for feedback.
