Project summary

Currently, there is not a special tool to assess the quality of life of patients with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS).

The aims of this project are:
1) To carry out an evaluation of the EORTC QLQ-BR 42 (adapting for DCIS and for suitability of use in DCIS patients)
2) To provide recommendations to the EC on a suitable assessment approach to assess HRQoL in DCIS patients

Achievements

The healthcare professional survey on QoL issues in patients with DCIS is ongoing.

Future plans

The patient survey will be conducted from April 2025

For patients

Currently, there is not a special tool to assess the quality of life of patients with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). Some studies have tried to use multiple surveys to help, but these can take a long time to fill out and might not really address what DCIS patients are going through. Researchers think DCIS patients might have different concerns compared to other breast cancer patients, so they might need a specific tool just for them. The goal of this project is to improve a tool called EORTC QLQ-BR45, making sure it fits DCIS patients better and adding new questions that are important for them.
