Bone Metastases (update of QLQ-BM22)
Project summary
This project aims:
- To update the current EORTC QLQ-BM22 to encompass QoL issues relevant to recent therapeutic interventions.
- To identify any problematic items and/scales in the BM22.
To enhance cultural relevance of the BM22 through collaboration with countries not included in the original module development.
Achievements
Systematic review, patient and healthcare professional survey on bone metastasis QoL issues relevant to recent therapeutic interventions has been completed, construction of a provisional updated BM22 module is completed.
Future plans
After approval of the Phase 1–2 report, we would apply for EORTC QLG funding for phase 3 of the BM22 module update as soon as possible.
For patients
The existing BM22 module requires an update to account for the changing landscape in clinical practice. Indeed, it has been over 11 years since the development of our module, and according to the EORTC QLG Module Development Guidelines, it is recommended that existing modules be reviewed and considered for an update if treatments have evolved during the last decade. We believe this is the case and that an updated module would be of clinical interest for this common disease entity.
