How to become a member

If you wish to be a member, please contact us.
The Quality of Life Group operates within the EORTC legal entity, as such membership to our group is managed through EORTC, and as such you can also express interest to other EORTC research groups. Information on EORTC membership can be found here.

Depending on your professional status, your EORTC membership will be Active, Active Early Career, Affiliate Young or Affiliate.
Once your EORTC – QLG membership is confirmed (de facto QLG Corresponding membership), you will receive all relevant communication related to our activities and to the overall organisation, as well as the invitations to the QLG meetings.
If you are unsure about your current EORTC membership status, please contact us here.

Our Quality of Life Group has also a particular additional status (QLG Active membership) for which the conditions can be found below. Such status is regularly assessed by our group’s secretary and will give you some additional features in the group activities.

How to become a QLG Active Member:

    • Attend 2 meetings (within 2 calendar years)
    • Be actively involved in EORTC Quality of Life Group research

On the third meeting you will become a QLG Active member. To maintain QLG Active membership you have to continue with research activities and attend a minimum of 2 meetings within every 2 calendar years.

An EORTC QLG Active Member receives the privilege to submit research projects related to QOL for EORTC QLG research grant.
Furthermore, QLG Active Members receive the opportunity to candidate for leading functions within the group, and voting rights for the election of new officers of the group.
The QLG Active membership status is entirely managed by the EORTC QLG secretariat in close collaboration with the EORTC membership office.

Some useful definition:

QLG active members are actively involved in at least one of the Group’s activities, e.g.:

      • Module development
      • An EORTC field study
      • Other research activities of the QLG
      • Providing advice to the EORTC on QOL assessment
      • Serving as an officer on one of the Group’s committees

QLG active members can apply to be part of the Executive Committee.

Corresponding members include individuals actively supporting the EORTC’s approach to QOL assessment but who are unable to regularly attend because of distance or cost. At the discretion of the Executive Committee, individuals interested in the Group’s work but unable to attend meetings may be kept informed of the Group’s work and invited to collaborate, e.g. in research, as appropriate.

Honorary EORTC QLG members are individuals who are retired or no longer affiliated with an institution yet wish to remain engaged and supportive of the EORTC QLG’s mission. Please read more here about honorary members policy.

Meeting Attendance: To attend a QLG meeting you must be registered as both a EORTC and QLG Active or Corresponding Member. Honorary QLG members are also welcome to attend QLG meetings.

Note: Individuals employed by an organisation with a for profit business model are not permitted to become members of the EORTC Quality of Life Group, nor are they permitted to be involved in any of the projects funded and carried out by the group.
